Huang Chih-Cheng & Hao is a Taiwanese artist duo currently living and working in Taipei. Composed of Huang Chih-Cheng (b. 1988) and Liou Jyun-Hao (b. 1992), the duo has officially collaborated on their joint creative practice since 2021. As a collaborative duo, their artistic practice is deeply rooted in an active response to Taiwan’s complex and multilayered colonial history. Confronting a cultural landscape continuously reshaped by shifting regimes and historical ruptures, they frequently interrogate their own positioning through their work: Who are we? What, ultimately, is our culture? This continuous dialectic surrounding subjectivity serves as the conceptual foundation of their joint creations. Concurrently, through the structure of their artistic duo, they seek to explore the intricate boundaries of interpersonal relationships—the tension between convergence and autonomy. This response to history, the interrogation of the self, and the dialectic of boundaries between individuals collectively translate into a unique spiritual dimension within their work.
Huang Chih-Cheng (b. 1988, Miaoli, Taiwan) is an artist based in Taiwan. He is the recipient of the Next Art Tainan Award, the Taoyuan Contemporary Art Award, and the New Taipei City Arising Artist Award. His work is held in the collections of the National Taiwan Museum of Fine Arts and the Tainan Art Museum. He has exhibited internationally, including at the Tsukuba Museum of Art, Japan, the National Human Rights Museum, and the National Museum of Taiwan Literature. In 2026, he was an artist-in-residence at Cité internationale des arts, Paris, and had his first U.S. solo exhibition at Fragment Gallery, New York.
