Ndayé Kouagou (b. 1992) has presented his work, among others, at the Fondation Louis Vuitton (Paris), Wiels (Brussels), Centrale Fies (Dro/Italy), Athens Biennale (Athens) and Centre George Pompidou (Paris). The artist’s work, spanning performance to video, is based primarily on texts he writes himself. These texts often present as philosophical musings—sometimes
powerful, other times intentionally ambiguous—and frequently aim to directly challenge the audience. Using these writings, mostly in English, in which he addresses universal existential questions, Kouagou creates performances, videos, and sculptures/paintings that explore the
power of words, along with their meaning, sound, and form.
