Woods and nature had always tempted her despite being brought up in an urban environment — «When asked as small child what I wanted to grow up to be before I knew what an artist was, I would answer an animal». According to the artist, savage creatures from her paintings illustrate wild and bestial traits that lurk within every human being — «the Wild Man could be both savage and sublime, evoke fear and admiration, and represent our antithesis and ideal». In her works, the artist creates fantasy worlds of mythical creatures inspired by such sources of imagery as classic myths, fairy tales, and folklore. Her works refer to chimeras, hybrids, and other classic narrative archetypes — for example, the relationship between Beauty and The Beast and the beast/maiden dynamic. Ivory’s paintings recall Francisco Goya’s and Honore Daumier’s art.
She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Central Saint Martins (London). Ivory's works are regularly exhibited at the Charlie Smith Gallery in London, and in 2020, the artist's solo exhibition was held at the Pamela Salisbury gallery (the USA). In the same year, Lisa Ivory's works were presented by Fragment Gallery at NADA Miami art fair (in the format of a pop-up exhibition in Warsaw).
